When she received tenure in 2017 at Belmont University, she was one of only 51 female African American Information Systems business school professors in the U.S. She's overcome many obstacles from childhood trauma to divorce. She now runs her business as a financial freedom coach and teaches part time at her alma mater, Tennessee State University. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

She holds a Six Sigma Black Belt that was achieved at Caterpillar, Inc.
